Abstract
The present paper analyses the concerns of the Romanian authorities, wanting to meet the cereal exporters from South Bessarabia, for a port at the mouth of Dniester, in Bugaz, town with a century-old port tradition.
It includes the studies carried out at the time, the port fittings and traffic through Bugaz to Constanţa port, up to 1940, when Bessarabia was surrendered to USSR, upon the political and military pressure of the latter.

Rezumat
Studiul de faţă analizează preocupările autorităţilor statului român de a veni în întâmpinarea exportatorilor de cereale din sudul Basarabiei de a avea un port la gura Nistrului la Bugaz, unde exista o tradiţie portuară seculară.
Sunt prezentate studiile efectuate, amenajările portuare şi traficul prin Bugaz spre portul Constanţa până în 1940 când Basarabia a fost cedată URSS la presiunea politică şi militară a acestei puteri.
