SIGILLARY MATRICES BELONGING TO THE POLICE OF GALAŢI CITY (1867-1872)

Abstract
The author of this paper presents two items belonging to the “seal matrices” collection of the National Central Historic Archives in Bucharest. These matrices, by means of which the seal was imprinted on the documents, have round shapes, are made of brass, engraved through excision, have various sizes and also include Romania’s coat of arms of 1867. The paper analyses the emblem of these seal matrices: the shield, the metals and the colours used, the shield elements, the crowns on the shield and on the pavilion, as well as the heraldry orb.
MATRICE SIGILARE APARŢINÂND POLIŢIEI ORAŞULUI GALAŢI (1867-1872)
Rezumat
În acest articol, autorul prezintă două piese care provin din colecţia „Matrice sigilare” de la Arhivele Naţionale Istorice Centrale din Bucureşti. Aceste matrice, cu ajutorul cărora se imprima sigiliul pe documente, au forme rotunde, sunt confecţionate din alamă, sunt gravate în excizie, au dimensiuni variabile şi au în emblemă stema României de la 1867.
Se analizează emblema acestor matrice sigilare, anume: scutul, smalţurile (metalele şi culorile folosite), mobilele, coroanele care timbrează scutul şi pavilionul, globul crucifer.
