Abstract
The preventive archaeological research done at “Sfântul NicolaeBanu” Church, Nicoreşti commune, Galaţi district, has revealed the annex constructions and a cellar, both belonging to the old monastery, which had functioned until the middle of the XX-th century, as well as several sewage pits.
A fact of great importance is the discovery of a funerary complex which dates back to the Bronze Age, as well as some ceramic fragments from the same period. This discovery confirms the presence of people in this area even from prehistoric times and adds a new archaeological point on the archaeological map of the district of Galaţi.
